We first noticed South Mountain Yachts in our marina several years ago.
The owner Lou came by the docks and would introduce himself,
offer assistance with new boaters etc. Just a genuine person to talk with.
Never expecting anything he just built relationships and a rapport with the tenants.
When it came time to sell our boat my wife and I thought thru the most sensible approach
on how to chose a broker.Thinking of how the economy has cycled severally
over the past 12 years we looked at who had been in business and who was still in business.
South Mountain yachts had weathered all the ups and downs and seemed to be a solid choice.
The number of boats that displayed the South Mountain sales signs far exceeded all
other brokers combined in our marina. We decided to sit down and have a chat with
Lou the owner on selling our boat.
Everything Lou said made absolute sense.
From how the boat should appear to both men and women to what
work should be done to ensure the future owner was making a good purchase.
His prowess on presenting the boat not as we the owner but how others truly perceive it
as theirs was very important. I personally am one of the most meticulously clean
owner’s and maintainer’s and have nothing but great comments every season on the water.
Lou educated me that although our boat was “Virgin” that would not matter to potential buyers.
The boat needed to be presented in a neutral manner for others to picture how they would own it.
This was a surprise to myself. Nonetheless this worked.
We were told the average market time for boats is just under a year.
Doing exactly what Lou asked us to do a family found our boat exactly what they wanted.
Under 4 months market time. In fact, the buyer husband communicated that when
his wife saw our boat the deal was pretty much done!
From the beginning to the end Lou was with us taking pictures and videos, prepping the boat and dealing with the buyer’s broker to ensure all parties were satisfied. My wife and I would consult and use Lou’s services on our future purchase as well. Great job South Mountain Yachts!!!!!

Dear Lou, On behalf of my son Kyle and I, thanks for providing services well beyond
what anyone could expect. My son lives in Hawaii and I live on Vashon Island, WA.
The three of us form a triangle that is several thousand miles apart on one leg,
and I guess another thousand on the other leg from your brokerage.
Yet, through Yacht World, I found the listing, and found a surveyor, who as it turns out knows you well.
The survey was clean, but we wanted (at your suggestion) a complete
engine evaluation and then complete servicing. You found the resources
and deliveredthe boat to get that done within days of the survey report.
Then we needed to service the trailer for its run to the shipping terminal.
Again, you found the resources and found ways to get the trailer road
ready very economically. Lastly, you arranged the road transportation
and pick up for a Matson run to Oahu.All this was done in a matter of
about 10 days, and neither my son nor I have ever met you, the surveyor,
the engine repair facility, the trailer repair facility or the trucker.
All done professionally and without a hitch. You did all that for your
normal brokerage fee on thesale of the boat. Unbelievable! It is no wonder
when I asked people about Lou Mencuccini, they all unequivocally spoke in glowing terms. All true.

Dear Lou, I just wanted to drop you a note thanking you for your remarkable abilities in my recent boat transaction that you handled for me. We contacted you 10 days before the 4th of July to buy a 22 foot Duffy. Not only did we buy the boat, you had Duffy Care performed on it, had a custom Boat Trailer built for it, arranged transport and delivery to Texas before the 4th! Unbelievable!!!

I met Lou through a doc mate at Sunset Marina and never looked back.

I lost my husband in 2010 and there was no one with knowledge re: mechanical issues. Lou stepped up big! He never hesitated to get his hands dirty with anything I needed. I have owned many business’s in my life and have never done business with a Contractor, Broker, Banker etc. who was as willing and able to help as Lou.

He was kind and empathetic when I needed it and strong and honest with me when that was appropriate.
I would recommend Lou to anyone looking to buy or sell a boat of any size. Be assured you will feel like you are his only client.
